Here's what some of the people I have worked with have to say.
Debb Vitraelli Public Communications Supervisor City of Oldsmar.
“Barbara St. Clair brought a rare combination of strategic vision, creative insight, and community-centered leadership to Oldsmar’s branding initiative, resulting in a logo and brand promise that truly reflect the Top of the Bay. Rather than imposing a top-down design, St. Clair led a thoughtful, inclusive journey by engaging residents and stakeholders to help define Oldsmar. Her work ensured the final logo and brand promise weren’t just visually appealing. They were owned by the community. Since its unveiling in 2023, the community continues to embrace the look as a modern reflection of Oldsmar’s “small-town charm” and forward-thinking spirit, reinforcing a shared sense of pride and connection. Her work stands as a model for how thoughtful branding, rooted in community engagement, can leave a lasting and meaningful impact.”

I never imagined my idea for free illustrated audiobooks for kids in English and Spanish could become an arts education business, until Barbara St. Clair showed me on a detailed spreadsheet how it could. Her deep and thoughtful business expertise, fiery enthusiasm, and passion for supporting people working in the creative industry, helped me imagine possibilities and begin moving forward. Barbara lit fire in me to transform my idea into a sustainable business, and I'm ever grateful for her ongoing guidance.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can you help our small business or nonprofit organization? The short answer: I help you find the pathway forward even when the way ahead isn't necessarily clear. That might mean helping you clarify the target audience for your new product or service, identifying their why, and the messaging strategy that will speak to them. Perhaps it means working with your team to identify their strengths and encourage their innovation and creativity. Or working together to discover and implement a resource and action plan to build capacity, or to transform a great idea into a program or business. What these all have in common is that they require understanding the problem you want to solve first and then figuring out how to do it. That’s where I come in.

How do I know if I am solving the real problem or just the most visible one?If you are asking that question, you are already ahead of the game. Small businesses and nonprofits are under pressure to move fast from problem to solution. It can feel productive, but if you are not solving the core problem, the solution won't stick. You could find yourself back in the same place in a few weeks or six months having to solve the same problem again (and again). Instead of "solving a problem," I can help you to identify what stands in the way of your success, to develop a clear strategy with concrete steps and accountability, and to set objectives that are both achievable and compelling.

What is your strategic approach?I work at the intersection of strategy, brand and marketing and organizational development. All three are more connected than many people realize. When they align - everything works better. My focus is on the practical. What does your small business or nonprofit need to do differently? What is the strategy? What is the path to get there? What resources do you need and what actions do you take to ensure success? The people I work with are passionate about providing value to their customers, their clients and their community. My job, as I see it, is to make that possible.
The businesses and nonprofits I work with are passionate about what they do and serious about doing it well.
